Plane Crash Injures UKIP Leader Nigel Farage

Aircraft Went Down During Campaign Stop

Pilot Also Injured in Crash

A plane crash in which UKIP leader Nigel Farage and his pilot were injured was caused when an election campaign banner became entangled in the aircraft's propeller, investigators have said.

Farage, who was campaigning for votes in the European Parliament elections, was airlifted to hospital after the crash on Monday afternoon.

The pilot, Justin Adams, was also injured and taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said in a statement that the crash was caused by "a loss of control" after the banner became entangled in the propeller.

The AAIB said that the banner had been attached to a pole in a field near the airfield from which the plane was taking off.

It said that as the plane took off, the banner became detached from the pole and was sucked into the propeller, causing the plane to lose control.

The AAIB said that the pilot had tried to land the plane but was unable to do so before it crashed.

Farage was treated in hospital for a broken rib and cuts and bruises.

He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

The crash has raised questions about the safety of light aircraft used in election campaigns.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said that it will be reviewing the safety of light aircraft used in election campaigns.

The CAA said that it will be working with the AAIB to identify any safety issues that may have contributed to the crash.
