Bar莽a youngster Ferm铆n L贸pez has suffered a further injury setback, the club has confirmed.
The 19-year-old defender, who represented Spain at the Tokyo Olympics, has been out of action since suffering a knee injury in training in September.
Now, Josep Guardiola has revealed that L贸pez has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and will be out for a further six weeks.
“It’s a big blow for us,” Guardiola said.
“Ferm铆n is a very talented player and we were looking forward to having him back in the team.
“But we have to be patient and give him the time he needs to recover properly.”
L贸pez is a product of the Barcelona academy and has been capped by Spain at youth level.
He made his debut for the Barcelona first team in the Copa del Rey last season and has also featured in the UEFA Youth League.
L贸pez’s injury is a blow to Barcelona, who are already without a number of defenders due to injury.
Gerard Piqu茅, Sergi Roberto, and Jules Kound茅 are all currently out, so Guardiola will have to rely on Ronald Araujo, Cl茅ment Lenglet, and Samuel Umtiti to fill the void.
